everything will fade, these three remain:
public art: interactive light & Oil painting
JUN-AUG 2024 — 355 Adelaide St West, Toronto
concept
This installation serves as both testament and testimony; paying homage to the Entertainment District’s history as a hub of nightclubs, a reflection on my experience in Toronto’s ever-changing nightlife eras, and a revelation on love.
concept in Format
Inspired by the pursuit of love and escape, my paintings bring the location’s history to life by incorporating familiar sensory experiences.
Animated LEDs cast light through meditative brushwork, while motion-activated sensors respond to human presence and connectivity. By merging art, light, and interactivity, this installation encourages reflection on the profound aspects of life beyond its daily grind.
It draws inspiration from a personal revelation found in 1 Corinthians 13. The title conveys the anticipation of the chapter’s final line; that despite these temporal experiences, love remains the most sought-after experience and the essential ingredient for anything enduring — even holding eternal value.
View at night
As people pass by they can interact with the painting by waving their right hand, which the lights will respond to; intentionally making the person the focus of love.
